Rosie innocently knocked me into a lake several weeks ago.
She has a pink squeaky ball. She loves it, and its the only one that she hasn't squashed. Unfortunately she took it into the lake and despite many requests of "Go get squeaky!" she wouldn't fetch it. It was floating just out of reach at the waters edge. The edge of the lake is quite steep, although it's not a long way down. I managed to find a branch and was hanging onto a tree, trying to knock the ball over to the really shallow part where it would be easier for one of the dogs to notice it and pick it up. I felt very precarious as I was doing this, any my friend was standng a few feet behind me saying things like, "Its not worth falling in for," and"Its only a ball, just get her another one, you're going to fall in." I was slightly irritated by her lack of confidence in my balance, so I was being very bravado about the whole thing and had just said, "Don't be daft, I used to do ballet, my balance is spot on,", when she suddenly screeched "Noooo!!!" and then there was a shove in the small of my back, which sent me off the muddy bank and into the cold water up to my knees. Rosie had jumped up behind me to see what I was doing. When she realised I was in the lake, she was thrilled thinking it was a great game, and practically leapt in too, narrowly missing me. It was only sheer luck that stopped me ending up on my bottom in the lake.
I swear she grinned at me as she picked up her ball, as if to say, "That's great balance you've got there Mum!"
Mischevious little madam.
Of course my friend said, "I told you, I knew you were going to fall in..."
