I was just wondering if anyone had come across pet-insurance.co.uk?
I can get my lab pup and two cats insured for £16.90 a month.

"The cover limit applies to each separate condition your pet may suffer. This means you can claim up to the cover limit for any number of different conditions. You can continue to claim for treatment and the cover limit is renewed each policy term throughout the life of your pets insurance with us so long as you continue to pay the premium due and do not allow your policy to lapse."

So this seems that they each get £4000 per each condition rather then just a total yearly amount of £4000 for everything. Sounds good?

Think it all looks a little too good! I'd be wary as I know many pet insurance companies won't pay out readily. Most have endless clauses hidden away in reams of small print.

I have been to the vet on numerous occasions and have been met with rolling eyes when mentioning my pets are insured. Only when I say that its with petplan does the vet breathe a visable sigh of relief. This reaction appears pretty much universal among vets. Pet plan was set up by vets, so basically by people with actual knowledge of animals (useful in this field I find!) as opposed to bog standard insurance companies out to make a quick buck (usually at our expense!)

I know, in comparison with other insurers petplan can appear pricey but I am a firm believer in 'you get what you pay for'. Petplan has proved invaluable in paying for the costly and prolonged treatment of my cat who has a skin allergy.

Basically I think the bottom line is if it looks too good to be true it usually is. Be careful.

I think petplan are extortionate and I wouldn't pay their premiums. I believe there are cheaper companies who do pay out without quibble (although, yes, I believe some are rubbish and reluctant to pay at all costs).

My dogs' policies are less than £15 a month each and that's for up to £7k cover per condition per year.

I'm sure there's a review website that you can look up and see how people have rated this company. Not sure of the name of the website though - maybe someone else will come along that does?

It sounds cheap - but that's not necessarily good. It's not with E&L is it as they do not have a good reputation in the pet insurance world.

Petplan are expensive but we've used them since I was a child and I guess I consider that they're the "safe" option. I do have one with M&S but would have gone with Petplan or AXA had I been able to reconsider.

Who is that with Mo? I have seen others saying about a policy with £7k per condition per year but I always thought it was £x per condition or £x per year, would be interested to know who combines and why it's not horrendously expensive!

I researched this company for my pup, it worked out just under £11 a month, BUT, on going through all their small print I found they are run by E&L! I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, have heard horrendous stories of them not paying out. Evil or Very Mad

I'll probably go for M&S again for Lucan, just a bit cheaper than Petplan, good cover and no trouble with paying out.

if you can find out who underwrites the policy i can probably help a bit more

I have Bramble with AXA - Bracken was with Tesco - they were 4k per condtion and did pay out pretty quick when neeed - also they were able to do a direct claim with the Vet Smile

E&L are horrendous at paying out, they will NOT pay out if they can find anything at all to stop them doing so, if they do its very very very slow

Thank you for all the suggestions. I really wish I could afford Petplan for all my animals (I know some people dont bother with cats but they are also my babies Smile )

All very confusing, I wish there was just one company that everybody just loved, that paid out quick and was reasonably priced Very Happy

I can;t afford to insure Alfie through petplan, i think they are just too exspenive. I'm with direct line and the pay the vet direct, for £7,000 per year per condition for 14.90 a month i can;t complain or for 4,000 per year/condition its 10.48 a month. I used them with my last dog and her vet bills were paid within 21 days at the most.
