Actually, I was due to do it this week, but took the opportunity of getting the vet do it today instead as Charlie was booked in for his annual Lepto booster. Wink Very Happy

I clip 3 of Luna's claws weekly or fortnightly - 2 dew claws and her special sideways growing claw otherwise it gets in the way of the one next to it! I take off the tiniest amount and touch wood so far have had no probs. Her other claws wear down themselves except when she was on 2 months rest. They got long then!

I think because Luna's been used to being clipped from an early age she's pretty good at lying down on her side and letting me do it. I'm persistent and insist that she be still and calm THEN she gets a big reward!!! Tripe stinky stick!

I got away without clipping Zadie's claws till recently (she's almost 5 - eek) - but I find they are getting slightly too long now and seem to cause her discomfort when doing emergency stops or agility. However I have had to rope in a friend as I'm far too much of a wuss to do it myself.

However, and the main point of this post, was to back-up Laura's point - I am going to learn how to do it and make myself deal with a pup's claws from day 1 even if I don't think they need doing.

Has anyone tried a grinder instead of clippers? As I'm contemplating this as I'm just too nervous with the clippers.

Wicca is a freak! Her claws need done once a week no matter how much walking she does. When I first started I went to look for instruction videos on you tube and videojug, they helped me a lot. Very Happy

Feather freaks if I go anywhere near her paws with the clippers, but she allows my daughter to do them with no problem. Sarah does them when I am out as I wouldn't like Feather to hear me nearby and freak out for Sarah.

Que and Snowie have never been any problem. Queen didn't like it either, but she slept very soundly so I could do them one or two at a time before she'd wake up! Jazz has always been ok about it.
