I'm with AXA and wouldn't be with anyone else - £7000 payout per condition, and this renews every year so you get a new 'pot' of £7k each year per condition. Never had to claim but have only heard good things about them. Costs £13 a month for one 2.5yo dog for us.

I've heard bad things about E&L too, a local dog owner had problems with them on his dog insurance and then googled and realised how many bad reviews there were
I have policies with Petplan and M&S. I took out the M&S one when it was underwritten by AXA and would now choose AXA over M&S but I think I will stick with Petplan, though I know it's not cheap
