Thank you matt and Helen, and whilst I am not pouting here - I did say ALL show bred... I know several dogs have been made up with a fair bit of show in them including one recently with a decent splodge of Poolstead in the 4th line, but I was really thinking of - all.... hence turning that 'line' into a working line and how long that might take if it were all made of show bred dogs...
It sounds like a joke in a way doesn't it?
'How long does it take to turn a show line into a working line...?'
Answer: How long is a piece of string (I suppose...)
Totally agree.... the amusing thing is that the hardest thing in the whole 'scheme of labradors' making a FT CH out of a showbred dog, or a Sh Ch out of a field bred dog would reep the owner, infact, virtually nothing but a place in the history books and a lot of slaps on the back. Their chosen 'side' of the breed would indeed pretty much shun the dog
What MIGHT happen though is that the showbred dog which makes FT CH is used by a lot of show people to further their working amibtions (rightly or wrongly) and visa versa. But the side the owner actually 'plays with' would run a mile chances are, totally agree! Right now trying to make a completely showbred dog to a FT CH would be like trying to win a Formula One Grand Prix on a Mountain Bike
