Shadow is an old man now and asking him to do something very different from working trials has made his old tail wag and and given me a few more grey hairs but still put a smile on my face .He had not previously been asked to do a formal retrieve for over 3 years ( in the top level in working trials the retrieve is relaced with a speak ) so he did look surpised when I asked him to pick up a dummy and even more surprized when I took him to the north east training day and he watched other dogs retrieving . He often looked quite bemused when he heard the shout before the dummy was thrown but despite this he tried to please me just as he always has and no matter what he did he would not have disappointed me as I simply adore the old bugger
Yesterday I think that He enjoyed himself , he did not get every retrieve but did get some and he also used those true pleading labrador eyes to get half my sandwiches . I think that he enjoyed the one to one and for me every moment I have with him is special .
Thankyou to everyone at the North East training for not judging Shadow and I as we do come from a different speciality but instead making us welcolme. We have both enjoyed this summer and hope that through the LF will keep intouch with these friends in the future.
Shadow now definitely has his pipe and slippers and will be dreaming of the time that the man stood on the back side and threw the dummy into the water specially for him

To everyone else , We all took the best dog of the day home with us and we all have some good bits to remember and some not so good bits that are now quickly forgotten.
It was lovely to see you there!!! Made the day even easier having more familiar faces around Make sure and have a look at the pics Michael took there is a really lovely one of you and the old boy

Brought a tear to my eye when I saw the pics of Shads he did try so very hard , He is carrying that dummy as if it would break with the look mum I have found this one expression,
