Question; Would you be agreeable to Lab Link rescue being able to raise funds as an organisation in itself, with the sole purpose to give emergency funding to those Lab link rescue members who need it

I haven't read the other replies so I'm neither going with or against the flow, just my own thoughts.

I am more than happy for LLR to be able to raise funds, as long as this is done in such a way that no members here are made to feel "awkward" if they can't donate. There is no worse feeling than when you are stoney broke and someone asks you to donate to a good cause and you feel you are the only one not able to so. Even if you are not "Asked", if you feel you are one of only a few who aren't donating, it makes you so uncomfortable....well it does me anyway.

So in short, yes I think it's a great idea BUT it has to be done in a way where people who can't donate don't feel alienated.....If you get my drift.

Absolutely, and there is no way I would want people to feel that they were having their arms forced behind their backs or to make them feel guilty.

In fact this is a better way of doing it and people are less inclined to feel guilt ridden if they can't help.

Fundraising would take place in the form of things like the online dog shows, there would be a paypal acccount and people could donate as and when or not at all.

I hate 'Chugging' and I just wouldn't do it.

I think it's a great idea Nat, but playing devils advocate, just for the sake of trying to think ahead, who would decide the criteria for helping a lab rescue group and how would it work? You could end up with your heart strings being tugged in all directions as every lab in need is one you would want to help, and without possibly a committee and a set of criteria for allocation of funds, it would be soul destroying.

I think you could raise a fair bit on here, because the support of the forum members is wonderful, but we also know how much vets bills are, and I could see the pot being emptied very quickly, it may be that we could only help one or two dogs a year (although that in itself would be great Very Happy ).

You will probably need a committee and treasurer?

Please don't anyone think I am against raising money for the rescue groups, who are very hard pushed - Nat knows that it is an issue very close to my heart! I just wanted to mention these things, as they would be concerns of mine if I were setting this up - although I am sure you already have it all covered Nat! Very Happy

Absolutely Helen,

That's why before all the finer detail is discussed and I would expect members to be involved, I wanted to gauge feeling on it.

There will be guidelines, and also checks and balances.

I envisage a maximum donation per request, there is no way for example we would expect to be able to pay out for a Hip op for example.

I would be looking for volunteers to help put it all together, and throw some ideas around, Admin are now happy about it, as long as the general consensus is.

I think it is a lovely idea, and I hope you can get it off the ground.

I am not in a great position myself to be able to make any worthwhile donations, but I would love to return to doing that sort of thing in the future when things hopefully improve. Very Happy
