I am as guilty as the rest....until my MIL's dog went missing a few weeks ago, then i realised how important these posts are.
We can become all too complacent, read the title and not bother to open the thread.
Please, I ask you, take time to open it, read it, can you offer help?
Maybe you could cross posts to other sites, put up posters, tell friends other dog walkers.
The more people are aware the 'hotter' the dog becomes if it has been stolen.
Remember - There but for the Grace of God go I.
Thank you

it is hard to imagine the fear desperation and total panic that these dog owners are feeling until it has happened to you.
it consumes your whole life 24/7 and you will not rest until EVERYTHING possible has ben done to find your dog...... at least that's how we felt when it happened to us.
it is not possible to help every single dog that goes missing..............with the best will in the world you just couldn't do it.................. but with the help of the internet and websites like this and doglost it does really speed up the pace and alert hundreds....if not thousands of people to the fact a dog is missing in their area.
if everyone locally forwarded emails to all local friends and put up just a couple of posters each it would make an enormous difference and spread the word so much faster.
when you have lost a dog you will now every person who helps will increase the chance of finding them quickly.
there has been a lot of support from this site and i really hope it continues.........there's a lot of missing labradors still out there...... please take a look through the list you might find one near you.

I always read these posts if they are in my area I would do what i could to help Or if I knew someone in the area also I would make contact and ask them to look out for the dog
I try to read them, especially if they are somewhere near me - and I crosspost if I can. I think its wonderful that there is a site like Dogslost that raises awareness of missing dogs.
I read in case they are anywhere near me. I will remember to respond more. I am guilty of not always posting a reply.
I do get occasions when out on a walk when Topsy does a disappearing act (just gets hidden in long crops/grass these days). They are fortunately getting rarer now, but are scary when they happen, so for a few minutes I go through some of these "what ifs".
I don't reply but i do always check the area, only once has it been close enough for me to go along and help with the search but i do check incase theres some way i can help if i'm able to After all if it were me, i would be ever so grateful for any help if my dog went missing (praying i'm never in that position though)
Sometimes a little reply can help ease the pain of those who have lost their dogs just knowing that people have read it and are thinking of them

Thats a good post as i'm guilty of not reading probably because i'm in Northern Ireland and not near any of you. I also would love to help with anythin I can would love to temperary foster (when dogs need somewhere to go while waiting for permanent foster/home) but again being in Nortehrn Ireland tends to be a bit out of the way.
