As it's been so hot during the day, Mouse does a lot of snoozing on the cold floors during the day and then perks-up and wants to be 'doing stuff' when it's dusk and cooler.
So we have a new 'best-game'. Once it's getting quite dark in the evening, I throw Zorro's 3 furry, rabbit-skin tennis balls into the flower beds and then send Mouse in to find them. I'm dead impressed with the way she gets her nose down and hunts for them, and retrieves them to hand one at a time, until they are all found.
I haven't the foggiest if what I'm doing with her is 'the right' way of doing things or not, and I'm hopelessly impatient at waiting for her to grow-up and mature before getting started and all warnings about going to fast, too soon are straight in one ear and out of the other! I may well rue the day and end up with the stickiest, most sluggishly reluctant gun-dog in the World, but at the moment Mouse and I are loving doing what we are doing and she thrills me everytime I do any training with her. And if it all goes tits-up, we can always convert to heelwork to music!!!!
If you and her are having fun I can't see how problems will be caused! I imagine that if you were making her retrieve and feeling you HAD to do it everyday then problems would begin.
