Thanks everyone, I think I'll just go along but take it easy and set him up to succeed with lots of stays and not much running at all.

It's not like he *can't do it* in the heat, I've seen with my own eyes that he could happily carry some treasure and run like a nutter in the midday sun....so there's an element of him choosing what is worth him expending energy on Rolling Eyes

Sophie - I would hose him to be honest, we used to rinse his jugular, groin and paws in Singapore (but never do when a dog is suffering from heat exhaustion as you have to cool them slowly then I think)
But class is over an hours drive away and no hose there.

He's not very sun smart to be honest, he'll pant away clearly looking uncomfortable but hasn't the sense to drink water when offered or find the shade.....little Nellie was born with common sense like that so I'm hoping it will rub off on him Cool

See your point - I don't know if it would be allowed but while perusing the net I found some doggy cooling jackets that people doing agility sometimes use if its a long wait for a round on a hot day.

Someone in America recommended the first to me, she uses it during agility. Personally I think the Cool K9 is the more stylish of the two.
