I'd say more it helped us have that extra control when he really pulled and got massively overexcited about every bird, person, other dog we saw. So I would't say the harness alone taught him to walk nicely in the sense that one day we could just remove it and change to a normal lead but more a case of it helped us with the control issue when he was learning his manners so we could begin to teach him the basics and move on to other leads. The main reason we bought it was because he was impossible to walk without regular choking because of his pulling and we were recommended it by the lady who ran the puppy classes we attended, I see it more as a short term aid while continuing the training if that makes sense. But I still believe it definately helped us when going through his particularly bad pulling phase. He is 8 months now and has really only just started walking properly to heel at all times.
