Posted: Fri Jun 19, 2009 4:21 pm Post subject: Milly - in foster with LRRSE - REHOMED TODAY
Milly is probably 3 or 4 years old, a really pretty black labrador, small but perfectly formed at about 20" at the shoulder. She has unusual little white heels on both her front feet (Bolo marks?). Her undercarriage is a little baggy as you might expect, however this is already firming up.
Milly loves the company of other dogs, and enjoys a good game of chase in the garden, she is submissive however if things get too boisterous for her and keeps herself out of any trouble!
All visitors to the house, human and canine, have been met with enthusiasm, and she was a very good girl for the vet at her check up.
Milly has led a sheltered life as a breeding bitch, and most things are new to her. She is slowly coming out of her shell and showing more interest and confidence on walks.
I have started a little bit of reward based training with Milly, just sit, stand and down for now, and she will now sit for her collar to be put on and taken off and for her dinner bowl.
Milly is not housetrained but we have started the process. She is very happy in her crate which is helping, and she is a clean girl who prefers to go outside so it shouldn't be a problem.
Considering everything, Milly has managed to retain a wonderful nature, and will always greet you with a wag and a silly smile. She is a bright, sweet, affectionate, young dog. She is becoming more and more active as her health improves and will need good daily exercise and mental stimulation. She is happy in her crate with something nice to chew, and has slept through the night since she arrived, occassionally with a bit of yodelling when she first goes to bed, but only for 10 or 15 minutes.
A calm household would suit Milly, probably not one with young children, but older children would be fine, owners who are not out all day and who are happy to work with her with some reward based training to improve her confidence and introduce her gradually to the big wide world. Could happily live with another dog (in fact that would be ideal). She was a bit giddy with my cats when she arrived, but is a lot better now.
If you would like to offer Milly the loving, safe home she deserves, please contact Alain Harari at Labrador Retriever Rescue Southern England, all their details can be found on their website. If you are not already registered with LRRSE, you will need to do this and have a homecheck.

Aw! She's beautiful. I'm looking for a rescue but I think we just be too much for her as our house is a very busy one. And I have a 5yr old. We live up north, but could travel. What a shame!
I'm at home most of the day and we do have another rescue Lab too.
I hope she finds a loving home. She's gorgeous. What a darling!
