This is it! I will have to move now! I've just received the 'draw' for the Suffolk Novice on Sunday and let's see what we got here:
M. Tallamy (A-panel judge and winner of IGL championship)
S. Coby (2nd at IGL Champ)
S. Polley (another judge)
R. Beckerleg (A-panel judge)
G. Leach (long time training partner and always specially invited to THE test at Sandringham)
J. Rumsby (one of the best natural handlers that I've ever met)
M. Moore (a regular at all tests here in the East, trialler and my old picking up buddy)
And Me (plus 18 others and some more of them are also aspiring judges)
If someone are in this area, it's your chance to see a 'mini novice IGL championship' (and me) - some very, very good handlers indeed which are worth watching - Sunday at Sibton Hall near Saxmundham.
Now, I'm not saying that tests anywhere els in this country are easy but these people here in the East like their tests tough just to keep them 'hard' and their dogs at their toes, sharp on the whistles and ready for the Field Trials.
Me, well, I just like a day out Never mind, the weather forecast says sun and 20 degrees...

No pressure there then Natasha , very best of luck for the day, sounds like you are going to enjoy it no matter what happens and thats the way to be I think
Well Natasha as you know I struggle with the same problems but I am pleased that someone else is feeling the pressure for a change.
Most of your list were at the Norfolk Novice I did the other week - plus there was an entry of 35. Its pretty intimidating stuff really but I have to say I'm getting quite blase about it all now! And they have started to talk to me at least now (after 6 years of living here) .
Of course I might have been there if I had managed to get any paperwork out of the Club , but I'm off doing a Puppy Test elsewhere.
Well, I've been here for 9 years now so they've been talking to me for 3 years It's an East of England thing, this non talking thing - can also occur on shoots where everyone are sticking to their 'own group' despite being encouraged to mix
I get on really well with all on that list, hell, some of them are my training 'buddies' and a great laugh but I do really think that we're in desperate need of NDNH tests here in the East as how els are we to try and encourage new into our clubs? it's just not viable to make NH run against so experienced handlers. The amount of times where people are telling me that they don't even feel good enough to turn up to join in at the the club training is vast
To be fair, I've personally experienced that some of them are taking an active part in taking training classes - last Tuesdays it was Sara Gadd that took 'my' group - but most have not got no time to spare to help some of the ones that need it the most: puppy/beginner group

Best of luck Natasha! At the end of the day its just you and your dog against the tests that have been set. If the dog does all the tests really well, then you'll be in the awards whoever else is competing.
I may have some time on sunday - so may be in touch! (mind you OH might not be keen as I dragged him to an obedience show just to watch a couple of weekends ago and we were well and truly piddled on )
Ohh, Susan, it will be sunshine on Sunday They are really all a very friendly bunch and it's a great pleasure to watch the teamwork between human and dog!. Ignore my moaning - that's just me trying to shake some of the old 'farts' up they know and they gracefully let me get away with it as they put it down to being 'young and foolish' (that would be everyone under the age of 60)
Matt is 100% right: when doing a test, you're not really competing against the others taking part but really against the challenges that have been set up on the day so in theory everyone has equal chances of winning
Bring on Sunday!!

The rules are very simple. I have an Open test on Sunday and the running order in my hand. It also looks mighty fearsome, although possibly not quite so as yours, so I'm happy enough to trade with you someone for someone. Someone I would like definately prefer was running in YOUR test for one you would definately prefer was running in MINE.

Right now.... OK I'lltrade you a Steve Polley (because I like him a lot! NOT because I could even consider beating him!) for a Diana Harrison.... and I'd follow it up with the fact that I feel its only fair, if I was to take Mike Tallamy off your hands for you to have to have a Graham Home and a Gary Vidler in exchange....
Do you see what i'm doing here...?
Handshakes and a Mars Bar to all mentioned for being good sports!
