my sister in law washed our labrador in fairy liquid when she was looking after him, then my niece washed him in head & shoulders the next day... his fur hasnt been the same since ( about 10 weeks ago ) its much wavier and less shiny..

he has also started to smell near his rump - a horrible 'cheesy' smell. i have washed him with sebocalm, the shampoo our vet recommends and this smell gradually returns. we havent changed anything else in our routine. i am worried his coat has been stripped of oils and his daily dips in the river are making him smell worse because of this. anyone any ideas?

could it be lack of oils and can i do anything about it or could it be coincidence and nothing to do with the fairy liquid / head & shoulders weekend!

thanks in advance for any advice.

Well years ago Fairy Washing up liquid was all we ever washed our dogs in (our vet recommended it for getting rid of fleas), in fact I've washed a fair few horses in it in my time too Laughing .

Yes it will have stripped him of his oil and so will the Head and Shoulders but it shouldn't have left him with a "Cheesy" smell. What is his skin like? Is it sore, flakey, sticky...anything unusual at all??? Is the smell definitely coming from his skin? Could it be possible his anal glands need emptying, as this would give him a horrid smell around his back end?
