I'm wondering if Magnetic collars are worth getting ?
Schafer is coming home tomorrow after his op for snapped cruitiate ligament and the vet said it will be 3-4 mths before he's back to normal (although no more off lead or ling walks )
What i'm wondering is if i should look into getting a magnetic collar as the vet says he'll get arthritis (sp) and he has slight HD in his other leg which may be made worse as he'll be compensating for his sore right one.
Hi, I would definalty say yes. When Sam (shih tzu) was a pup we were told he had severe hd and would either have to be put down or have hip replacements. We like to try alternative methods first so we got him the bioflow collar, that was 12 years ago and I swear he hasnt had hip trouble since and the vet was completly baffled. With bioflow they also give you a lifetime guarentee so if the collar breaks you just send back the magnet and you get a new collar
Indie has one, I don't think its made a bean of difference tbh (she ruptured her cruciate about 18 months ago now). I think what helps more is keeping the weight off them and ensuring they have a healthy diet. It is more for skeletal injuries, rather than soft tissue, I'm led to believe, which is perhaps why it doesn't appear to make a difference to her, although it may do in the future as she is bound to develop arthritis in her knee joint as well.
I think for the price they are they are always worth giving a try.
My Tara benefitted greatly from her one and she went from hobbling about painfully at 10 years old to a racing around like a 2 year old again within days of her wearing hers. I know it was the collar, as on the rare occasions I had to remove it for washing, she ceased up again within hours.
Mojo wears a copper chain with 6 magnets attached and I hadn't thought it was doing much until I lost it (down the back of the sofa) for a few days and she was getting stiffer and more lame, but when I found it again and put it back on, she was so much better the next day.
As Carroll said though, Magnets don't work for all dogs or all people come to that but if they do, they seem to be a great help.
Hartley has one the same as Mojo's and I noticed a difference. He used to be stiff on getting out of bed if we'd had a very long walk, to the degree that he occasionally needed a helping hand - that's not happened since he's had his magnetic collar.
I wear a magnetic bracelet as I used to suffer from painful joints regularly and since I've had it, I haven't had any aches or pains.
Definantly worth a try for the price, as Jules said.
My friend broke her ankle some years ago and it has never been right. Last winter it was agony and she tried all manner of pain killers and differnt therapies, she was so desparate she even tried smoking something naughty.
I bought her a magnetic bracelet for Christmas and she laughed 'as if...' this was Christmas day, by New Years day, she was pain free, the first time in three years.
I think it works for some and not for others.
It isn't going to break the bank and you will do no harm by trying it.
Have a go.
