I have been a very busy girlie of late, and have done quite a few homechecks in my village and surrounds, which means I get to see the families when they get their new dogs.
Yesterday, I took a lovely Yellow boy called Chance to his new home, with the help of our lovely Helen, he slept in her car and mine and was a joy to have.
WE arrived at his new home, where he was greeted by his new 'mum & dad', his tail wagged for England, he did the Labrador bum wiggle and I was dragged into the back garden
The back garden has a lovely wildlife pond they have created, I should reall say HAD as Chance thought that is should become a Labrador fun pool, within 5 mins of arriving he dived straight in having a good ole paddle around
The family had a resident Jack Russell Terrorist, a wise old girl of about 11yrs old who was going to stand no nonsense from this young upstart and interloper, so she put him in his place and that was that.
The lady and gentlemen concerned fell in love with him instantly, and there was no way they were going to let me take him back again.
I can honestly say it was one of the highlights of this role, a happy ending and a Chance for Chance so to speak

I have the great pleasure of seeing regularly three rehomed labs that I did the homechecks for etc. They are all in close proximity to me.
One I see in winter on a little shoot. She was a lovely middle aged black bitch from super working lines who had been too much for a broken family to cope with anymore. She now takes it easy with a active retired couple who adore her to bits. It's great seeing her have fun on the shoot, she clearly loves her life. The love that is shared between her and her Dad is just amazing. You see it in their eyes all the time.
Another went to live on a farm as a pet dog. He came from another broken family. He'd been brought up with many young children and adores them. His best friend is 3 year old Charlotte. They dote on one another and are often found in a heap by the Aga. He joins his Dad during the day on his rounds across the farm and is as fit and healthy as a butchers dog!
The last one is a young lady who by 12 weeks had already had 2 homes! She now lives the life of riley as the much loved pet of a Lord and Lady! She'll be strutting her stuff at the Westminster (MP's) Charity Dog Show this Summer. Despite eating many thousands of pounds worth of antiques they still adore her. Shortly she's coming to stay with me for a week whilst her parents go on hols abroad - should be fun!

I had a "warm, fuzzy and lump in the throat" moment seeing Annie walking round town with trainer from the GD training centre last Monday. They had come to see if she was mature enough to take in next month. Seeing her going through her paces with someone else made me realise how far she has come and that it won't be so very long until she reaches her full potential.
I'm so pleased Nat! Have a tear in my eye ... again ...
He only stopped with us for 4 hours or so, but what an absolute doll he is!
The most handsome yellow working lab I've seen for a long time,
with that lovely head and expression that Jills FRs have, clever,
gentle, and lovely with my dogs.
Not frightened but at the same time not too big for his boots.
Just a lovely houseguest to have for the afternoon
His new family are very lucky to have him ... I'm so happy for him.
He'd been wanting a swim all day I think, kept trying to get in the ditches
on our walk hee hee!!
He must have seen that pond and thought 'I have arrived!'
