I thought some of the Dublin dog collars looked really nice and was thinking of buying one when I had the money, but then I read about the problems people were having and it put me off.

However I wanted to ask, the problems people have had with them stretching/snapping/splitting - is that because you walk the dog with the lead attached to the collar?

Only I was thinking of getting one at some point for my collie as he's a s*d for rolling in fox pooh and it would be great to have a collar I could wash under the tap rather than having to put it through the washing machine.

He wears a harness though, so his lead isn't attached to his collar - does that mean I'd hopefully avoid the problems others have had?

My two wear theres on a daily basis for the dog walker as a method to carry their tags. They are never on the lead.

They are still immaculate after a rinse under a tap! My two are the roughty toughty type of labs, always filthy! So for show I think they are perfect, but I have heard people say that if your dog pulls they stretch.

Angela, i'd definitely get one if i were you. I loved Lucy's one but as hers was attached to her lead (and she's a puller) it did stretch (although hasn't snapped)...so if you are attaching the lead to a harness and not the collar, i'd highly recommend one Very Happy

AND, i can vouch for how EASY they are to clean, and Lucy rolled in a rather LARGE blob on fox poo in it once, and it rinsed off easily under the tap and looked brand new again Very Happy

Go fot it Angela Laughing

Of all the Dublin collars we have sold we have only had three returned to us so I would (and did) buy one for my woofs.

Don't forget you get 10% off by using code LAB1 at the checkout.

I would personally recommend the Dublins - makes the fox poo issue so much easier Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing

I haven't had any problems with mine and I do use them with the lead attached, daily. That said my sis bought one and rarely has a lead attached to it but the dog wore it all the time (I take mine off) and her one split at the hole it was on after about 6 months.

They are great for mucky dogs but I wouldn't recommend them for pullers or for permanent wear.

Alfie has had his for a year. He only wears it for walks - I treat it as his wellies. He's not a puller, but it has stretched a little, and the hole has got a bit bigger.

When it is worn out, I will definitely buy another as it is so easy to clean.

Thanks all flower

He's not a puller, but like I said his lead is attached to his harness not his collar anyway, so that wouldn't be a problem.

My dogs do wear their collars all the time, but they don't chew on each other's collars or anything so hopefully it would wear ok. I think I'll try one when I've got the cash Smile

Another question - to get the right size, you just measure the dog's neck and use that measurement? (allowing a little extra)
