We filled an application form with a labrador rescue a couple of months ago. We don't want to be pushy as we know all involved in this area are extremely hard working volunteers and the last thing they want is people pestering them unneccessarily. We also realise we could be in for a wait with having children, extra care is taken to match the right dog to the right home. It is just we haven't heard anything at all, even about arranging a home check.
Should we get in touch with the rescue concerned? Or is it just a case of waiting?
Any thoughts appreciated
Thanks

Personally I would get in touch as you havn`t had the home check yet, I thought they usually did those asap so they could then set about matching the family with the right dog
i may be totally wrong though, hopefully one of the members who works closely with rescue will be able to say
As you say, rescues are all very busy, but if you haven't heard anything at all since you applied, I'd be tempted to contact the rescue to check that they have received the application - things go missing by both email and post.
I know, that's how I thought things would work . Especially as the form didn't really go into a lot of detail about what sort of preferences if any we had.
Definately call them, its unusual not to recieve a response even to acknowledge your application to rehome.

Absolutely agree - give them a call and check they got it - we'd usually home check as soon as possible so we can get more of a feel for the potential adopters and work out what sort of dog would suit their home.

Had a phone call from our coordinator last Wednesday and Friday morning saw us heading down to see our boy at kennels. Fell in love with him and brought him with us the same day. So Abby now has a new little (well actually he's bigger than her) brother - Jake. He's nearly 3 and a giant puppy, really playful and licks everyone to death. Will post pics when get the camera sorted.
