We have two males (different breeds) though our older male is neutered, And Archie is a lot more confident then Dexter, also a sensible age gap can help.
My sister is getting a male Dalmatian later this year, lovely dogs
Best wishes

We have three dogs and three bitches, all neutered, all different ages and theres no battles here either.I do agree with the dominance thing though, all my dogs are passive by nature (probably with them comming from rescue centres) and therefore theres no wanting to be top dog,all seem to accept their places, the only telling off thats done is to Bruno the pup when he gets a little too much and thats only a warning!
It shouldnt make any difference which sex you have and theres always the option to introduce your exsisting dog to the new dog before you make any decisions.Rescue centres should make decisions on individual cases rather than have a sweeping rule that may potentially exclude dogs from loving forever homes.

When I got Harry I was warned that two males will fight (along with a lot of other fairy tales about choccie labs) but there has never been anything like serious agression between them.
My three have never had an agressive fight but when there is 'rough and tumble' it's nearly always the female that starts it.
I don't know anything about Dalmations but I have come across this rescue rule before.
