Goodness me, Sarah, looks as if this has turned into the 'explosive' subject Can I just let you all know that I don't have a problem about anyone training with me asking a training related question on any forum or see other trainers or join in at other clubs.
In some way, I'm actually quite pleased as it shows that I've pushed some 'buttons' and made people think about their training and how they set up their training scenarios. I always tell any anyone coming here for training - 1-2-1's or group training - that there are no right's or wrong's (except for using extensive force) and what works for one dog does not always work for another. The other thing that I tell them is that at the end of the day, it is their dog and they always should make the end decision about, well anything relating to their dog.
I myself have attended several different training clubs, all with different trainers with different ideas. I use it to get ideas, meet other people and learn new stuff. Because I know my dogs well, I know if certain training scenarios work so if something is going to be too difficult then I'll let the trainer know and the trainer will then have the experience to come up with a different scenario.
I can fully understand why Sarah posted the question because we've all been there: you're so close to have cracked it but find that you're still hitting the head against the wall so you tell someone or you do a piece about it on a forum sharing your training experience. Lighten up, people and let us all share our training ideas and experiences
