Becs - could you ask about the difference between 'Field Trial' and 'Working Test' please?

Ahhh...you're asking the right person Liz- I think I might kow the answer to this one!
Working Tests are where they pretend to shoot guns and no one gets hurt. It's a sort of 'make-believe shoot' but really the birds are just dummies and they don't mind being flung about very much at all. One day, when we're grown-up, we might be allowed to venture into this, as long as we pay attention in class and do well in out A'levels.
Field Trials are where they shoot proper, real-life guns and the pheasants and other feathery creatures probably do mind about being shot at (but then thats the pheasant's career, and of course it has it's downs as well as ups), but it's even more serious than the 'make believe' shoots and the likes of you and I must keep well away from them otherwise Jill's eyebrows would go through her scalp in horror! Laughing

I think Di and some of the other Khaki Kings and Queens explain it in more detail, but thats the general gist of it (I think...although somewhere along the line, Spaniels come into it, and ducks and rabbits.......)

Just to add to Becs explanation a little Field Trials are run through the winter during the shooting season (real game) and Working Tests are run through the summer months (dummies and maybe cold game). Wink Very Happy
