would having dodgy elbows be a disability that would stop us from learning?

I so would like to do something to keep his mind and body active as he loves retrieving and lives for it, its just that we have had no formal training.

Also we live near Clacton/Colchester, is there anyone willing to teach us?

Becs has inspired me

Was going to say, Zorro is 7 isn`t he?, look how well he and Becs are doing and he`s never had gundog training having been an assistance dog.

I`m sure something not to arduous would be fine for him with his dodgy elbows, may even help a bit by keeping him mobile Smile

I`m sure someone will be able to point you in the right direction Smile

I'm sure Jack would love it, Nat. I don't think its ever too old to teach a dog something new.

Good Luck!

Come on Jules, you're the LF Essex Girl, can't you recommend someone who may be able to help Natalie????

Hope you find somewhere Natalie, I really do.

It's one of things I really like about this section of LF, seeing people becoming interested in doing more with their dogs, of whatever age and breeding, I think it's brilliant, long may it continue!!

We expect pics by the way Natalie.

Andrew

You go for it Jack-the-Lad! He'd have a head start on Zorro as Zorro thought retrieving anything besides the remote control, the post and undies out of the washing machine was a thankless task, and he'd give it a miss, thank-you very much! Laughing

I must say also, that Zorro has taken on a new lease of life too since we started this Khaki-nonsense - it's all to do with 'releasing the inner gundog' I think! Shocked

I guess if you didn't overdo it, then Jack's joints would be ok. Play it by ear- you know him best. Googling The Gun Dog Club would be a good place to find classes in your area.

Nat,

You're never too old to learn something new! Wink

Have a look at:

www.thegundogclub.co.uk

Is there a course near you?
