This whole gundog thing is just snowballing out of control! Laughing I've never had so much fun in all my life (which thinking about it, might make my past life sound a little sad Shocked ).
And this afternoon was my very first Gundog AGM, and I was desperately excited at the opportunity to study real Khaki-folk at close quarters en masse! Took ages to decide what to wear as I really wanted to blend in, so I eventually settled on a thick layer of foundation and face powder on and a touch of blue eyeshadow, tried to 'set' my hair in a few permanent wave, tied a headscarf on and off I went! It was fabulous! I was greeted at the door and enveloped into the bosum of it all, a few entry forms for some working tests were thrust into my hand with lots of encouragement to 'give it a go' and before I knew it, I was nearly offering to take charge of the tea urn and French Fancies (although I held back as I didn't want to appear pushy)! What lovely people! But what surprised me the most was that they had all these gorgeous tropheys to give out but no-one to give them to as people there are sooooo cool that they don't even bother putting themselves forwards for them! Can you believe it? Shocked Trophies and shields sat there BEGGING to be awarded and no-one to award them to! Well, as soon as Zorro achieves his '1 width of the hydrotherapy pool without a life jacket' I shall most certainly be informing the club incase they want to offload a nice trophey for that!

Next week I'm off to my first 'Working Test'! I am dizzy at the thought! But I think I shall just enter Zorro into the scrurry, being as I'm still having a spot of trouble with differentiating between my 'go backs' and 'stops'!!!

That's it Becs, you've made it to the inner sanctum! No going back now; you get your name down for the tea urn and before you know it you'll be club secretary! Smile

Seriously though, good on you. Will love to hear how Zorro gets on with grade 3 and beyond.

Where are you going? Only so the sane folks amongst us can avoid it .... Wink Just wondered what clubs were running tests this time of year as they are so few and far between in Feb and March down 'South'...??

No eye candy Sherry - although I was sitting at the very back and there might have been a possible beefcake at the front.
Di- Its the Midland Golden Retriever Club doing a test on Sunday 22nd.

Oh excellent thanks Becs. I think you might find, if its a bona fide working test of any standard there probably won't be a scurry there and infact you won't be allowed to take Zorro.... have you checked? Or is it a fun day?

A scurry is a competition where you stand on a 'starting line' with your dog. Someone throws a retrieve out and you release your dog to go get it. Your dog is timed from stepping over the starting line to returning BACK over it WITH the retrieve.

There are variations on this but this is the most common way they are run. They are a bit of fun at usually a pound a go or something and the fastest 3 or 4 dogs get rosettes at the end of the day if the owners are still around!
