With tongue ever so slightly in cheek. Wink Wink Wink

Here's a series of pictures of Charlie, Lowforge Aurora. Charlie has n't featured much in my pictures, as she is one of the mainstays of the picking up team, and has done at least 40 days this season.

I started by trying to get a picture of her stood, to show her conformation, there have been a few threads lately on the show/working debate, I would welcome any feedback on Charlies physique, and condition. This is my idea of a dog in "good, hard, fit condition", and to my eye, what a Labrador should look like.

This is Charlie, on her outrun. Bear in mind, she has been on game since September, and is being sent for a dummy here, still seems fairly focused Wink

She comes back just as quickly as she goes out.

A friend of mine recently said "Andrew loves high charged, high speed, hard hunting dogs" and that's just the labradors she was talking about!! This picture is a potential Mr and Mrs, now that would be interesting, but not for the faint hearted Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Andrew

Absolutely stunning photos Very Happy I too want to take photos as good as those Mad You have a real talent and I never tire at looking at your pics because of it.

The one of Charlie's outrun makes me grin a lot. She's a good looking bitch alright love7

HOWEVER, my Barney I think makes a worthy challenger on the fitness stakes Wink :

and this photo below, was the first photo I ever saw of him in rescue, a couple of weeks before he came to live with us, which demonstrates well just what miracles a working life can do to your figure Smile (now if only I could do this with the husband).

Right, genuine question this Andrew. Just remembered a comment you made about Di's Jade on another thread and hope both you and Di don't mind me pulling it into this thread...

You (Andrew) made a comment about a photo Di posted of Jade in hard fit condition:

"In all seriousness Di, in terms of size Shine (it is Shine is n't it?), does n't look bad, but what I can't see in Pic 1, is "hard fit condition", perhaps that term means something different to me, unfortunately, I have n't got a picture of a dog stood, that I could use to show you my interpretation of the phrase. "

Now this was the photo she posted:

and this is Charlie, who you say is your example of a dog in hard fit condition

To me there is not a lot of difference between the two dogs. Now this could be because I'm a bit of a novice at spotting things, particularly the detail, or whatever. In all seriousness is there a difference? Can you or anyone else explain it?

One of the things about Jade in that photo, which throws the comparison slightly is - she is completely out of coat, granted coat would not take away from being in hard fit condition, but it would definitely change her outline and the way she looked to the naked eye.

I love that photo of Jade, even if she is only in her bra and knickers Wink . In my mind's eye if I think what a Lab would look like, she is it just there. That said, the photo on the other thread of her in full coat and "up the duff" she is too heavy looking for my taste (but I'll let her off as she is a smashing girl and was preggers at the time Wink ) .

Right disclaimer coming.....Completely novice eye here, playing Spot the Difference. Wink

Jade is more compact, shorter in the back and deeper in the chest. Jade's tail is shorter and set lower. Both have lovely heads, Jade's being a tad shorter and broader on the muzzle. Charlie's stifle to hock length seems longer but that could just be the way she is standing and the fact that having a longer body gives her a more tucked up waist.

But if it's Condition I'm looking for, I don't think having them standing is the best way to judge it (in a photograph) especially in a black dog on a dull day.

The photo of Charlie on the outrun shows the amount of muscle mass in the thighs well and the sitting position shows the muscle bulk around the shoulders. We need to see Jade at similar angles to be able to assess her musculature.

Both lovely looking dogs though and I'd be proud to have either one walking at my side.
Very Happy

I've not got the eye as it were... but to me... it looks like Jade has more bulk, be it muscle or bone but she is more solid!

If I was comparing the two I'd say that Jade would be the one that could work the hardest because she looks more substantial. This is quite possibly not true but its what my untrained eye sees.

I do see two loverly girls though. The ones where you have them moving are very pleasing to the eye. Just standing she doesn't look as interesting as it were.
