Am really sorry but the instruction don't say and i don't know.

Poppy new kong on a rope has arrived today, and has a built in scent pad. Having had a smell of it i can only smell the kong, so what do i do with it. Do i soak it in chicken stock?? put something on it as i don't really get the point of it if it doesn't smell of anything

Sorry if this is a really stupid question

Not having seen them in the flesh I would imagine the scent pad is for Scent Work. So you would put a persons scent on it and then hide the kong amongst several toys/articles/etc and the dog would have to pick out the one with the right scent on. Something like that anyway. I'm not sure I'd soak it in chicken stock in case the dog then ate it.

I've seen them advertised as dummies - so they are for throwing, and scent work.

Hello, I use ours for a bit of fun in the garden with Max and sometimes rub something smelly on it (bit of tuna cake) but I quite often just hide it for him to find anyway - and then I sometimes give him a treat for finding it and bringing it back.

I haven't tried soaking it in anything - let me know if you do! The pad on ours feels quite hard and well "stuck in" so I'm not sure it would get chewed up - but I don't leave it with him, we play some "find the kong" and then it goes back into the cupboard until next time.

I've not tried using it in the way Jules mentioned but I might give that a go and see how that works Smile

I do only use it for "fun" rather than serious training so this is just what we use ours for.

Don't think its possible to get the pad out, and will only be used when i can keep an eye on her. Its for fun to try and get her interested in retrieving when out on a walk as i can only get her doing it in the house and garden.

Was after ideas of something to put on it, as like i said can only smell the kong. Really Don't know what to put on it. She was not really interested in it when it arrived so am hoping that i can make it more interesting without stinking the house out lol

Ahh found it on turner richards it does say it's for impregnating with scent!

They sell rabbit, duck, pheasant scents etc.

Never tried them myself bt if she's not interested in it as a new toy you might need them Very Happy
