I have had several people now compare Pepper to Flashmount Danny. Not only in looks and height but a lot of the traits that he has when working. I found a couple of photos. What do you think?

Flashmount Danny

Ettinsmoor Pepperpot

Does anyone know anymore about Danny? I know Derek Capel competed with him and I think he was known for his hard hunting and his jumping Rolling Eyes . I think he was a FTW but not a FtCh and he was sold abroad!

As John would say Sam that is because I didn't get my knees wet.

I have to say I think Pepper is the spitting image of Danny and it is obviously interesting for me to see where it has come from. Having said that Danny is a very good looking dog to me anyway Very Happy .

I am old enough to remember Danny and I used to go to East Midlands training days when Derek trained there too. Danny was a hunting machine i looked at your dogs and thought of the Flashmount dogs.
I will try to get a picture of one of mine that went to the states that was by Socrates - Blypark Antler. Here goes!

Hi Sherry

Well I think we are the same age Wink but I actually came to gundog work a little later than you as I originally did obedience and working trials so I was too late to see any of these dogs in action.

I can certainly see a similarity with your Blypark Antler head wise and reach of neck. Do you know did Danny go to the States?

Are you still connected to East Midlands Gundog at all? I usually try to get to at least one of there tests each year and I train with Craig Horwill who is there Chairman (and lives in the next village to me).

I remember Craig, he used to run a big yellow, I will be awake all night trying to remember its name. I dragged Craig down here when he lived 'up country' to judge something for me - I had a notion that judges were better coming from out of the area.... Nice guy - quiet!
I used to train with East Mids when I lived up there. I remember once I tripped and fell against my dog who yelled his head off and Craig took me to one side and gently told me off for being hard on my dog1 He didn't know me very well. This me who once wacked someone for using a bit of hose pipe to thrash their dog!
I used to love the East Midlands events. Ask Craig to tell you about the gundog rally they used to have - great fun. Do they still run water tests? Their puppy test used to have an enormous amount of people, I remember one when they had 50+. The last time I did anything at East Midlands was a trial near an airfield. Didn't do anything.
I don't know if Danny went to the states - I haven't heard of him being used over there.
Now I have got the hang of this picture lark. I will show you the Mother of Blypark Antler (Mole)- Countryways Swiftly of Blypark.(Red)

No East Midland don't do a water test anymore. I have always tried to enter there Puppy Test, but last year I didn't have a pup to enter and apparently it was cancelled through lack of entries. Times change I suppose. They are running it again this year though, so I shall be there.

Craig has a yellow called Alfie (I don't know its KC name) who is trialling at the moment, but I would guess you are probably talking about an older dog.

We probably have a lot of people that we both know then as I have done most of my gundog training in the Leicestershire area!

The dog I am thinking of that Craig had nust have been around 1994/5/6 and I think it was someting like Benjies Boy. I am probably wrong and Benjie was someone elses.
i lost track of Craig and remet him when i was involved in running an event at the CLA and Craig was also running an event. It was the year it should have been at Woburn, but was cancelled through foot and mouth and was held elsewhere. Can't remember whaqt the place was called. I am an idiot - we camped there for a week and can't remember the name of it!
Is Gaynor and Ronnie still about? Do you know Stuart North.
Were you around when Somebody Mitchel ran Leicester Gundog Club working side , can't remember his first name - in the 90's
I see you are from Kings Lyn. Do you know the Dartons?
We should really meet up and exchange ideas.

Yes Gaynor and Ronnie are still involved with East Midland.

I think you probably mean the CLA at Blenheim?

I do know Mary and Peter Darton. In fact one of Marys' dogs is Boots grandsire.

I am not sure whereabouts in Suffolk you are Sherry but you are probably quite a long way away from me. I am right on the Cambs,Lincs,Norfolk borders so probably 1.5 to 2.00 hours away from you. I may see you at some tests this summer though if you still go along to them as I am a member of all the clubs in Suffolk.
