Ruby was pmt bitch from hell for about 6 weeks, snappy, grumpy horrid little madam.
Shes back to normal now, thank goodness. Bears very relieved

Thanks for this - very interesting reading....
We're wondering at the mo when to spay our bitch - she's 15 weeks at the mo....vet has said can be spayed at 5-6 months or 3 months after 1st season. They have recommended to spay her before her first season but it's so hard to know what's best to do...

Its a difficult one to decide. My own feeling is to wait till she is basically physcially mature, which is usually signaled by the arrival of her first season. So I would always vote for the 'after first season' spay. BUT if you have any doubts at all you can't keep her safe in the three weeks of her season where she could be very attractive to males, either visiting 'callers' or if you don't feel you can not walk her for 2 - 3 weeks, then spay her before.
Early spays (before first season) have only really grown in popularity through, understandably, a desire to not let a bitch even SLIGHTLY run the risk of a unwanted pregnancy. BUT if you can, like most, be very responsible whilst she is in season, I am certain that a spay after her first season will be more beneficial to her physcially.

Hi. Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere (I have looked!) but I think my pup may be coming into season. She is 6 months old today! I have noticed a clear liquid coming from her vulva so not bloody or brown - would this be an early indication of coming into season? Don't want her getting into trouble with the boys! We had been umming and ahhing about whether to get her spayed before or after her first season so this may well make the decision for us!

Ellie,
I would not count this as a sign. Lots of bitches, young and old, lose clear fluid sometimes... and sometimes as a milky discharge. Other dogs tend to be interested in it because its 'different' but its just her body chucking out a bit of gunk, not a sign of a season.

Thanks for that Di - good to know. We were starting to think it couldn't be as there had been no 'progress'. Which still leaves us with the decision about when to spay....our vet recommends now but she still seems such a baby!

Hi everyone,
I'm going through this for the first time with my best buddy, little 10 month old Molly. She's been bleeding for a while now and as of yesterday is off her food. It's strange to see her walk past a bowl of food. Normally it'd be polished off in seconds!!!
Today I noticed her tummy is rumbling constantly. Some very odd sounds coming out of her! Does anyone else have any experience of this?

It might be because she is not feeling hungry that her poor little 'less full than usual' tummy is rumbling. I wouldn't worry. She will soon come through. Good luck. Its a rotten time
