I was one of the lucky breeders but I must have aged about twenty years during it
My bitch was a natural mother and took to whelping like a pea farmer on commision
As all ready said, the vet fees for all the health tests, good feeding, whelping area sorted and bought, vet bed, by the roll wormers, vet checks, injections...I also have paid for some vet fees incurred for a pup I had sold three months on.
I was very lucky that I didn't have any problems. Georgie took to being a mother extremely well and all eight of her puppies thrived..In fact, blossomed It should never be taken lightly, though, as it is a full time job...infact, I was on duty 24hrs a day. I can honestly say, though...I loved every minute.
To breed properly, costs, in most circumstances, much more than you recuperate.
I now have two home bred Shaymiloney girls and am very lucky, and appreciate it.
I totally sympathise with those that have had problems.

Just thinking exactly that.

Atm that £600 looks extremely high to an awful lot of potential buyers
And I must say that unless you have a large litter (8-10) and all goes extremely well then you cannot realistically make a lot out of that when you take into consideration all of your costs, when you are feeding well and washing daily at 90 degrees and tumble dryer is on 24/7 (obviously a winter litter) My remaining puppies are now fully vaccinated which is more expense to absorb and obviously as Hayley has pointed out you can never close the door as a pup may require treatment that you feel is your responsibility to pay for and you may be faced with having a pup / dog back to you in the event of change of circumstances / problems (this is something I stipulate in my contract of sale)
