Another for Axa here, the cats are with petplan but their quote for Dylan was over £30 pm so a shopped around and Axa was only £18 for a very similar policy.

Is the AXA one a lifetime one, ie if a condition developed they would pay out £7000 per year every year that you stayed with them for that condition.

What if they then had other problems?

Or is it £7000 lumped together for all vet visits each and every year with no maximum on one condition.

I HATE INSURANCE!!!!!!!

What do people think of the more budget ones like Argos?

Sorry to hijack your thread tracey but i need to renew/change too and it seems that we are at the same place in sorting it all out.

Argos quoted
Cover Level Silver Gold Platinum
Vet Fees (£60 excess) up to £2,500* up to £4,000* up to £7,000**
Treatment Period 12 mths 12 mths no limit
Death from Accident/Illness £250 £750 £1,500
3rd Party Liability £1m £1.5m £2m
3rd Party Liability Excess (dogs only)£100 £100 £100
Advertising & Reward £250 £750 £1,000
Boarding Fees £150 £500 £1,000
Theft or Straying £250 £750 £1,500
Accidental Damage (£100 excess) n/a £500 £500
Holiday Cancellation £250 £1,500 £3,000
Quarantine Costs £150 £500 £1,500
Emergency Expenses Cover Abroad £150 £250 £1,000
Bereavement Counselling
Pet Legal Helpline
Pet Minders
Veterinary Helpline
Overseas Travel

Cover level Monthly Premium Annual Premium Excess
Silver £8.64 £103.68 £60.00
Gold £11.85 £142.15 £60.00
Platinum £16.76 £201.12 £60.00

Sorry that hasnt copied very clearly.

£16.76 per month for platinum and £7000 vet fees
** Ongoing cover is provided up to £7,000 per incident, subject to premiums being paid and up-to-date and the policy renewed

So in english is this £7000 per year or per illness ie if they get HD is it a maximum spend of £7000 over several years?

So confusing!

we decided on AXA after much searching , it is £19.00 a month , but luckily haven't had to make a claim, so don't know how good or bad they are on paying out.
Good luck its a hard choice to make isn't it !!

AXA, at least the policy I looked at which was very similar to M&S's, was £7,000 per year, with that amount renewing each year. So you could claim up to £7k in vet bills each year, total, for all conditions.

Petplan is expensive and I'm not 100% confident with M&S anymore, but as the dogs have all had vet treatment, even if I've not claimed, I'm reluctant to move as I might well find things excluded then, even though I've not claimed for them Sad I suspect insurance companies will try to get out of whatever they can, which means things like upset tummies wouldn't be covered for us in the future if we did move.

Tracey, I've just taken out insurance with More Than for both the girls and they cover £7000 per condition per year and I'm paying £16.99 a month for Pumps and £17.99 for Puds. I was with M&S but their renewal came in and they'd hiked up their prices Evil or Very Mad
