I thought it might be nice to have one thread you can all post on, to support and encourage each other, the good, bad and just plain silly.
Also a place to post when your foster dogs go off to their new homes, somewhere to have a good cry, while you wait for the knock on the door sounding the arrival of your next one.
So come on you wonderful people, we'd love hear all about it.
PS: It might encourage others...who knows

Poor old Chloe, who has been looking fab recently, got humped by an overly amorous large labrador dog the other day. She's a bit out of sorts with herself, got her on metacam and rest for a week, with a bit of extra treats and tlc. She just hasn't any muscle mass on her back legs, and is too old to build any up, so not only did the boy squash her well and truly, but she can't carry too much on the other leg. She was a bit shakey and didn't want her leg touching the day after the incident, although not one grumble from her about it all, and she's definitely doing well on the metacam, although I'll be reducing that so that she doesn't overdo it. She's a funny old stick, but a loveable one!!!
Joanne - Oh I did wonder about the old girl and how she was doing..bless her..

Chloe's the first foster, and she's for life, she will be with us until the end. Prior to Chloe we rescued an old gundog, Rhuna, via word of mouth, and took her in in a very bad way. Her owner was very ill and dying, and had given up several dogs at the same time. Rhu was only given a few weeks to live, but lasted seven months. She really did well during that time, and it was only during very last couple of weeks she went downhill rapidly. Chloe looks like she's gonna last forever!!! But as no-one ever wants the oldies, its nice to be able to take them on until the end and be there for them.
So tell me Den, Joanne, does saying goodbye get any easier?
My first foster was just rehomed and, gaily thinking I had it all straight in my head that he wasn't staying, have been a mess for 2 days
No, every time i say goodbye there is ALWAYS a tear in my eye, some i cry for for days. I had a lab x springer in just after we lost Pudsey, we only had him two weeks but there isnt a day go by i dont think of him.
Some are more special than others.
Its easy to say dont get attached, but i love my foster dogs, and if i didnt i dont think i would be doing my job right.
