Hello all,

OH and tie the knot (not around necks Laughing ) on 1st June 2009. We have Jasper and the ESS. We did think about taking them up North for the wedding but then it means trying to find doggy friendly places and Holy Island is not known for them. We are wondering if there are any kind souls out there who would mind having both our boys together for a week for us? It maybe less than that because PIL are back down South on the Tuesday and have offered to have both of them for us as well as our daughter but given that my MIL is going blind and my FIL has cancer we do not feel this is realistic. I am not a fan of kennels/boarding
1) Of the prices
2) Because our boys are used to being together

We are willing to pay (of course) if someone help us out just by having them from the Friday to the Friday (maybe?).

I am East Grinstead so we are thinking Surrey/Sussex/London area as we will be travelling to Northumbria. They are working dogs and should be (we hope) well trained by then.

Many thanks

Emma

I think I could help Very Happy , pretty new to this site. I recently started looking for a Lab myself and I was browsing for breeders on-line when I came across this wonderful site. I live in South London and have a garden, whilst I am at work they could stay at home with my partner or join me at work (plenty of space and the whole area is very secure). Do not hesitate to contact me if you need to know more martinims@yahoo.com

Emma, just wanted to add as an aside that the majority of kennels will board dogs from the same home together - they wouldn't need to be separated Smile

Em - can always give you the name and details of our sitter. She's very good, and has 2 labs herself. Your dogs go and stay with her at her house, £20 p/day for one dog, £30 p/day if there are 2 dogs. You know i'd have your two angels but i wouldn't be able to bring all 3 to work Sad

Hi Emma, I am tempted to say that I will have them but realistically I don't think I could manage 5! But I can recommend a boarding Kennel, it is Tracy, Gladys' breeder also a member of LF, they are based in East Sussex and for 2 dogs it is £25 per day, if I ever have to leave mine that is where they will be going and I know that Di boards hers there too

Sorry to butt in but thanks for that link Lorna. Based in West Sussex that is one nice and close - will have to remember it. I'm sure Emma would have the same concerns as me seeing as we're both training our dogs via the gundog route and I always have visions of (be it well-meaning) "tug of war" and "fetch" games with kennel staff Confused
Sadly an afternoon with family resulted in dropping dummies at my feet for 6 weeks until I corrected it, lol.

Hi Its Tracy with the kennels Lorna has linked to.
Its not like that at all, yes we play with the dogs, but if we are asked not to play tug etc we DONT.!!

A lady who is on LF came to see us last week, lady called Sue and has a choccy called Rosie, knows you Emma, ask her what she thought.

The main thing is we walk our dogs,4 times a day, and after a good walk, they generally sleep, if its 2 dogs in one kennel from the same home they might play, but we are certainly not into ruining any work that has been put into a dog, far the opposite, in fact a lot of people say when they go home, oh you must have done some training, because they behaved better than when they went in!!!!

We have lots of gundags that come to us being a rural kennels, even a fire searching spaniel and he isnt ruined coming here!!

Hope that puts your mind at rest, not all kennels are terrible. Very Happy

Tracy

Oh gosh no I wasn't suggesting you were! The fact that Di uses you would certainly put my mind at ease! I just have found it hard to find kennels that understand the way in which I would train my pup. This is why I thanked Lorna - she's done some hard research for me already by posting the link to a suitable kennel Smile

I'm not saying that any kennels would do it deliberately, but sometimes its really fun with a puppy that is keen to retrieve to throw a ball for them. My MIL certainly did and had loads of fun, but it did put me back a bit.

I'll be bearing you in mind when I need kennels Smile
