i still have my younger dog insured with M & S - but went from M & S to Axa (lower quote and more importantly huge difference in excess with a 9 yr old dog) - but he didnt have any pre-existing conditions
no need to tell a company why you are cancelling the insurance - just say you can't afford it - and get them off the phone before they try and sell you insurance for less!!

Mind you, when I called M &S to cancel the cats insurance - they held the premium at the previous years level for me....so I stayed!
Sometimes its worth listening to what they have to say...
