Two years ago we went to a local animal sanctuary to view a couple of collies. While we were there the kennel lad asked if we'd like to see Bliss as "she's a lovely dog" and there's a bit of collie in her, and a whole lotta lab. "She's just here, look". I looked into those brown eyes and thought I could've spent months visiting rescues all over the country and she was here all along.
He warned us she'd been in the shelter for 4 months and had no visitors at all so she might be a bit excited. A BIT?!!! She shot out of her kennel, belted over to us in the yard and jumped up and licked my face repeatedly. I told her to calm down and she lay down at my feet, rolled in a puddle and wagged water all over us. Well what's a girl to do?
We was very strong though and met the other dogs anyway and went away to think things over. I spent most of that night awake pacing round the house drinking tea and worrying about her in the cold kennel, and the next morning in the petshop buying collar, lead, food etc as we were going back to see her again - "just to look mind"!!! The rest is history. OH says he only agreed to take her because he couldn't face another sleepless night! But I know she's got him wrapped round her little paw.
