Had the camera out again and finally got THE perfect action shot of Casper (Lowforge Moab of Contender)!! I'm still struggling with the settings on the camera and since the weather was gray and dull today I had to play around with the settings again - all good fun!
I thought, I'd just treat you all to a 'fashion' of me as this months 'Miss Rough shooter' with 4 layers of clothes on I went down to Essex the other day for a bit of dog training with BF, Joe, and we decided to also have a mini walked-up/rough shoot around the farm. We ended up with one wild Mallard, a couple of pigeons, a Jay, two Moorhens and a rabbit. It was good training for the older dogs and my Guinness did a real good job on the mallard that decided not to be completely dead but dived several times before she got to it. She's a strong swimmer and just as stubborn as any duck but it did take a good 15 mins of her swimming up and down the river before she got the duck.

Self proclaimed 'Miss Rough Shooter' of the month!
And now the illusive woodcock retrieve! there seems to be a myth surrounding the retrieving of these birds and many still believes that, for some reason or another, their dogs will not or are not keen retrieving this little beautiful bird.
I've never had a dog yet that didn't want to retrieve a woodcock. Today, Adder retrieved his first woodcock (cold) and he went straight to it and picked it. This dog is 12 moths old and has not been allowed anymore than 7 retrieves on cold game up until today.
To prove a point, I tried it with Uno - he has been a late developer, can still be silly with dummies AND has an overshot jaw as well - and he too went straight out to pick the woodcock!

And finally, Uno proving that there's nothing wrong with retrieving woodcock nor being slightly disabled!
