Me and the OH had the good fortune of being allowed to go beating on Di's shoot yesterday!!!! It was a bloomin fantastic day and everyone was so friendly and welcoming.. Smile

Happy had what was possibly the BEST day of her life and has decided she wants to be beating dog now and forever!! Bless her she got so excited and didnt stop all day, she's only ever been with me to observe what 'proper' gundogs do and her idea of sitting in a cold field getting a numb bum then prancing off to pick up a stupid feathered thing is obviously not nearly as much fun as running round like a loony through the woods trying to grab mummy and daddys sticks!!! Rolling Eyes

Despite a mad start where we kept her on the lead and being dragged over several times, we decided it was in our own personal safety to let her off, she's got good control and only stays between me and OH anyway and proved herself to be a good little dog!! Even had a few comments from the other beaters and guns saying so, so I was chuffed to bits!!!

Took a few pics but bearing in mind it was -6 when we got there and -2 when we finished it was a bit too blimmin cold to be stopping and taking the gloves off!!! It was a truly stunning day though and I am well and truly hooked!!!

Oh and edited to add.... Much to the others amusement on drive 2 out of 8 I was helping Di out by sending Mallie for a bird (as she went off with Jade for another one)... so Mallie she had to go over a fence and being the kind Auntie i am, I got myself half over it to squash it down for her... in turn managing to catch my arse on the barbed wire.. ripping a bum sized tear right across one cheek Embarassed Embarassed Had to spend the rest of the time with a jumper tied round my waist, it was right drafty i can tell you and I almost gave one of the old boys a heart attack in the pub afterwards when I showed him!!!

A distant shot of Di with Mallie and Jade...

Blimmin heck- that looks cold!!!

So glad you had a wonderful time and that Happy excelled herself! What a fine 'ol gundoggy she is! Tad disapointed at the lack of photos of you and Jez in your khaki-Brigade gear? Did you go for a nice tweed skirt suit, warm woolen stockings and a deer-stalker hat? And did Jez wear some dashing socks and gaters over his Harris Tweed britches, or did you settle on the 'Pheasents Have Feelings' teashirts? And where are the photos of Happy looking busy and earnest as she hurrys those birdies along and urges them to 'get a move on dearies'?!

So good to hear that you all had a fantastic day Very Happy Keepers loves when it's freezing cold because the beaters are always keen to keep warm Laughing Laughing Laughing

Lovely pictures of such a beautiful landscape! Isn't the world just such a beautiful place? much better to be out on such a day than to sit home and watch all this depressing telly Sad Sad

Great pics - and lovely weather too. Very Happy

It was grey and mushy for our shoot in Saturday - weather like you had would have been lovely. Wink

I managed to do a comedy fall off a barbed wire fence to brighten up the keeper's day though Embarassed Laughing
