I used to swear by pet insurance, until a couple of years ago when i stopped working ( due to ill health) i added up what i was spending on insurance and was gobsmaked, i only had four dogs then too. I had only claimed once as well for an xray and small op for my cavi.

Am i the only one who takes a risk with no insurance. Come on own up!

I do take out a policy when i get a new woof just in case, but after a year i cancel it if all seems well.

We took out insurance when we got Lucy, and i'm greatful we did, as she now has HD. In the first year, we claimed around £400 back for some X-rays, and I'm gonna keep it going in case she has any future problems that might require surgery! And only costs around £15 pm with PetPlan.

I don't think my parents bothered insuring their dog, but that was a while ago now....

I have insurance for Ruby with petplan and it costs around £34 per month (how did you get £15? i think i pay quite alot considering she was only a few months old when i took it out) I didnt insure my last dog and regret it as she had lymphoma when she was only 5 and died 4 months later. Im not sure whether i would have put her through the chemo but i didnt have a choice as i couldnt afford it, but it would have been nice to make a decision that didnt come down to whehter i could afford it if you know what i mean.

Yes have insurance for my two. Everything Ive paid out so far though has been under £60, which is the excess, so no point claiming.
