This is an auction listing for a voucher for a Barn Owl Hour, bird of prey experience, very kindly donated to Oldies Club by Sophie, a falconer who privately owns a few birds.
The Barn Owl Hour will take place in the St Neots/Huntingdon area of Cambridgeshire.
Sophie says:
The Barn Owl Hour usually lasts over an hour and you will be in charge of a female Barn Owl, a very experienced lady. First we will have to find you a glove that fits and a food bag and have a quick chat about the bird and how to fly her.
Then it is a quick walk to the flying area, where you shall let the barn owl go and then fly her to your glove for food.
The winning bidder is welcome to take their camera and up to two other spectators can accompany the winner, although only the winner will be able to fly the bird, unless an additional donation is made to the charity pot.
Sophie has issued a voucher to Oldies Club for this experience – the voucher is valid until December 2009, with a convenient date for the experience to be agreed with Sophie for when she has a space.
The voucher will be sent out with information on what the day will involve, clothing required and contact details for Sophie.
No dogs allowed to attend, the birds do not tolerate dogs.
This auction listing will run until 9pm on Sunday 18 January 2009, after which the winner should make their donation to Oldies Club (we can accept donations by PayPal, cheque/postal order and bank transfer).
The voucher will be posted out to the winner upon receipt of cleared funds. Upon receipt of the voucher, the winning bidder should contact Sophie directly to arrange a date and time for the experience.

Edit, am going to ask for this one to be closed for the time being. Will re-open if interest in the other barn owl hour increases.
