I seem to be getting inundated with puppy enquiries (not this litter cos of the show blood but future litters ) from Scandinavian countries and I'm trying to work my way through them!
Yes, they're all pretty keen to get some new blood in plus it's much cheaper to buy one over here than it is in Scandinavia. My cousin will be going over here to get her next one and she will get the trip plus pup for the same money as she would pay for a Danish lab pup
Just one thing that you have to bare in mind about both Denmark, Sweden and Finland: they have this independent club for gundog retrievers (RJK - Retrievernes Jagthunde Klub). I mention this because they run their own tests and trial system, they have their own register system and their own health check requirements. Their dogs are NOT being registered in any of the Scandinavian Kennel Clubs and any tests/FT results obtained by these dogs are NOT recognized by ANY KC! That is one of the reason why these countries can have problems filling a team to send over to compete in any of the international tests here in the UK.
There are of course people that are members of the 'normal' retriever breed clubs and also KC register their dogs but there are two systems and not one like ours over here...

My feeling is Finiish field trials are not run on cold game because the list of working events specifically mentioned 'field trials' and 'cold game tests' as seperate entities.

Thanks Natasha that was why I was just trying to find out a bit more about how the competitions work.
For example if someone says they won the Finnish Championship in a certain year how would that compare with a Field Trial over here? As I say I think it is cold game not shot game which probably means it compares to an Open Working Test.

Natasha, as far as I know RJK - Retrievernes Jagthunde Klub with its own registering system functions only in Denmark.
Swedish and Finnish gundogs are registered in their respective KCs recognized by FCI plus the KC (U.K).

Sweden has their own Jaktretriever Klubben (retriever gundog club) which they started in 2001. They work closely with RJK and Danish Gundog Register (the independent gundog registry) and 'recognize' each others tests. I'm not 100% sure if the Fins have started their own but will look into it. They've done the same thing with the Spaniels - the Club for FT Spaniels.
Jill, their tests and trial system is an exact copy of our system it's only that they don't KC-reg their dogs as they thought that the Danish and Swedish retriever club plus their KC's were not doing enough to encourage the working abilities in the dogs so they decided to break away from the KC. It's all about politics in the end..
