Basically a long lead with a trigger clasp at each end, you can use them as a normal lead as well.

They come in all shapes and sizes, I have a leather one and also a soft Halti one which I am currently using. The Halti one was about £4 and came from the local pet shop, so I figured that was a good buy.

I use the Mekuti harness and double-ended lead - as Sophie says they have a trigger clasp at each end so in my case I attach the lead to the harness at two different points. The leads I use also have rings on the lead so you can clip one of the clasps to a ring and create a "handle" too and use it as a longer lead.

I've been using a harness for a few months or so now and that certainly improved things - the only time he really leans into it is when there's another dog around. I used to find him a nightmare to handle with the lead attached to his collar - I thought he would pull so much that he'd eventually pass out!

I've just tried the Halti for a short time, practising walking up and down the lounge and it wasn't too bad once I distracted him with sausage. We played straight after I took it off and he seems ok, so I might be brave and venture out shortly...
