I had to rush Jess into the vet yesterday afternoon, as she had puss poring out her !!!!!!!!!!! you know what, she has pymetra and will be speyed on Tuesday. Both girls were booked in for the op in Feb as Jess had a phantom last month, so the desicion was made. So on Boxing Day Jay will be out, without her big sister Jessica for the 1st time. Richard is looking forward to this, having Jay on her own and will be interested to see how she copes. Might get some decent pics as he only has to concentrate on one dog. Also I have bought him a pair of binoculars with a digital camera inside. (That's a Xmas pressie he doesn't know about yet Laughing )

You are so lucky it was an open pyo. Generally with that it is spotted quite early on where with a closed pyo often all you have to go on to start is a vague feeling that she is unwell. This is often followed by sickness, which in the case of one dog I know was followed by death that very night! Pyometra really is a life threatening problem.

Regards, John

Thanks for your wishs everyone. God what a stressful day. The scan did not look good on Sunday, but the vet said it wasn't as bad as he was expecting when he opened her up. She came home at 3.00pm this afternoon couldn't settle until 4.30pm had a wee, has been sick a few times and has finally gone to sleep. Jay keeps trying to nurse her, she is such a lovely girl and Jack has gone and hidden himself away.

The sickness is no doubt due to the anaesthetic, and provided it settles when she awakes, no problem. But dont allow it to go on too long. We are always a little concerned whether the sickness is due to the ailment or the cure, but it's almost certainly due to the cure.

She will be pretty poorly tonight and may well be rather quiet tomorrow, but from then on things should start to improve. It's so hard seeing them poorly and not being able to explain to them. Smile

Regards, John
