I'm using a half check with Bracken as recommended by the assoc. pet dog trainer who does our KC good citzs classes. TBH I don't think it helps any more than an ordinary collar would do. Some days she walks on a loose lead perfectly, other days is an absolute monster. I'm very new to this dog training malark so have lots to learn and will follow this thread with interest.

Dont worry Jill, I am not a fan either but I had to use one with Roly as she would just about choke herself and she was giving herself throat problems, the vet recommded it and it worked
I would prefer to train Jana myself so she gets the idea without any of the gadgets!
Thanks to Sam and Suzy, I have PM'd you both for your advice and thank you both for your help!

Lola is a total puller. I have started using her harness and it is helping to ease the pressure on her neck and on me when she pulls , but what helps most is holding her favouirite toy (a Kong airstick) just by my side above her head and repeating praise as she walks along staring at it lovingly! We look like mentalists and poor Honey must be embarrassed , but it is like a donkey with a carrot and it is working for us.
We were given a half choke by Honey's breeder and to be honest, nothing worked for her either until we enticed her with food treats above her head (like Lola with the airstick). Now she walks like a dream on lead. You could try it.
I'm busy struggling with their recall this week which has been unusually dreadful for the past two days as I haven't been able to walk them with my sore foot! There is always some work to be done I think!!!! It's like the Forth Road Bridge, training pupsters!!
