Eddie is currently on Nutro Large Breed Puppy complete food, and has been for approx 5-6wks. However, we have to travel to get it (which isn't an issue if we have to) as our local pet store does not supply it, and although Eddie's pooh is formed, it is soft.
I went to look at what the local shop could get in a Large Breed puppy food, and they can get BETA. Can anyone tell me if this food is any good please? Or am I better sticking to Nutro? The Beta is also over £10 a sack cheaper (although that is not the main issue, but any savings help in current times!) Thanks alot x
It is very important not to overfeed him. The total number of pellets in one day should not be more than 4 to 6. You risk constipation and death if you overfeed him so it is best to keep the feedings within that amount. You can feed him as many times a day as you want, just no more than a total of 4 to 6 pellets in one day. It's also good to "fast" your fish one day a week. This means no food at all for one full day so his digestion can kind of "reboot".
If his bowl size is a gallon or larger it's a good size. Bigger is always better though. If it's smaller than a gallon he may eventually develop finrot because he will be too close to his waste and will easily become infected. It really is no problem to transfer fish to a new environment as long as it's done safely. Make sure that the new water is the same temperature as the old water and use a water conditioner. His water needs to be changed at least once a week no matter what size tank he is in.
I've not fed Beta before but I think I have read other experiences on here that weren't brilliant - if you try searching on here for "Beta" you will probably find more info
Samaria, did you post on the wrong thread? This is about a puppy, not fish?
Thank god someone pointed the mistake out - i followed samaria's advice, put Rhyno in a 1 gallon tank and fed him. The food expanded and rhyno nearly died of asphyxiation. Phew
Lucy came to us on BETA puppy, and when she hit about 7-8 months, switched her onto the adult BETA version, but she didn't do so well on that (soft poops resulting in problems with her anal glands) so she's now on Whites Premium.
Having said that, our family dog was on BETA from day dot, and did very well indeed!
