The day you came home 
We turned up, you recognised us immediately, and bravely wagged your tail.
We jumped out the car, ran up to the gate and greeted you and your brother and sisters with a big smile and friendly pats.
We checked for the yellow paint, on the inside of your ear, i picked you up, you licked my face, and said goodbye to your litter mates.
After all was done, we got in the car, you wrapped in a blanket on my lap.
At first you cried a little, but soon got the hang of it, but didn't sleep a wink all the way home.
We opened your new front door, your eyes opened wide.
We put you on the floor, and you instantly scuttled about, exploring your new pad.
A small wee here, a 'chase your tail' there and your crumpled into a heap on the floor, too pooped to chase, too tired to race....
You had your first dinner, and some more friendly faces, stopped by to say hello.
You trusted me, but made your own way, around your new home, on your first day.
You are our special little girl, how quickly a year goes by! What adventures we've had, what adventures we have to come! How much joy you bring to our lives, and I hope, us to yours too.
