So having had a small crack at Working Tests last year for the first time and been HUGELY bitten by the bug, I am looking forward to going all out on Working Tests with Barney next year and see where we end up at the start of the Field Trial Season (probably as spectators lol).
Just wondering about people new to all of this if you're going to have a crack at Working Tests and the like in 2009? I hope so. They are hugely enjoyable and informative. I know their are lots of you having a go at training your dogs, young and old, at the moment . So come on, tell us, what are your plans for 2009?

Well I'm not exactly new but I'm still looking forward to the Tests next year.
I will have Pepper and Boots out in Puppy Tests (and hopefully Rufus and Finn will be out there with Neil and Sam too ). Darcy will be in some Novice Tests in the second half of the test season (probably cold game round here) and then Novice Field Trials, if we can get some runs next season.
I must keep taking the tablets if I'm going to keep up with all that .
I'll get there one of these days - but I think next year will be filled with agility for Cadbury, hopefully we'll be allowed to take a small part in the displays when the summer begins.
And then we'll be thinking working and field trials - one day...
Yes Novice Dog/Novice Hasndler tests exist and are most peoples starting point in this day and age if they are new to working tests.
More and more clubs run them. The club I have just taken over as WT Sec didn't, for example, but they do now for 2009 - bossy old bag that I am
At least 5 clubs south of London will be running them. Further up country they seem far rarer - sadly.
As for the dogs - we plod on. Jade and Mallie in Open as regards tests with me, Jade in novice for the time being with Allan, Deeds in Novice with me, both those (Deeds and Jade) will also run in Intermediates. Shiney about to take her Show Gundog Working Certificate in a couple of weeks and then run in Novices next year. The baby boys just training in 2009 nothing more.
Then next winter Jade and Mallie trialling, maybe Deeds.
I'm knackered already.
Nobody forget (and I'll give it a bump) my list of test dates for 2009 in the South and South East of England. It is also in detail on my website along with all Secretaries contact details.

I have been putting in some work behind the scenes up here trying to get more Novice dog/Novice handler. Fingers crossed someone will think its a good idea and not "what's the silly old bat on about now ".
They all seem to be moaning that numbers are dropping for tests and I keep telling them if they hold Novice dog/Novice handler the numbers will increase .
