My beautiful cat Tolly was put to sleep this morning and I am absolutely distraught. He has been slowing down for the last few weeks and then at the weekend we found a massive lump on his rear leg. This morning it had nearly trebled in size. He had also been poorly as has been a diabetic for the last 4 of his 15 years and was on the higest dosage they could allow yet was eatins, drinking and going to the toilet far too much. I havent stopped crying since 10am and no I need to sort myself out but I just cant get over looking at him and watching him fall asleep in my arms. Pets have such a massive impact on our lives and it will seem so weird with him not around anymore. I just wanted to share that with other pet owners as i'm sure others know exactally how I am feeling.
Yes, I know exactly how you feel. Our old cat Mozart was pts at 14 because he had stomach cancer and was so swollen he could hardly breathe.
You never quite stop missing them, for a while its like they are still there. But though their passing is sad, I wouldn't ever give up the wonderful years and love he gave us just to avoid the pain.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel as I lost my lovely old boy last year and I still think of him every day. Its so awful to make that final decision but in the end its the last kindness you can do for them. In time you'll be able to remember all those years together with a smile. But the pain of grief is dreadful and I really feel for you.
So sorry for your sad loss, but give yourself time to grieve, and just remember all those happy years you had with Tolly. In time, the pain will ease but you'll never forget.
Run free little man, pain free at the bridge xxxx ((hugs))
I`m so sorry to hear about Tolly, its very hard to make that decision for any of our furbabies but, as someone said we do have the choice to let them die with dignity.
I`m sure many of us can empathise with your loss either of a cat, dog or small furry and we know how you feel.
I am so sorry to hear this, you have my deepest sympathy - it is so veyr hard to lose a much loved companion, but you did the best for Tolly you could...
In time the pain will ease, and you will be able to remember him with a smile..
