Today is the second anniversary of Que, Queen and Snowie coming home with me from fostercare in Somerset with Rosemary. I have just been rereading my exchange of PMs with Becs about it. She knew I was going. How time flies when you're having fun or are very busy! It has whizzed by.
I'm sure you all remember my precious Que having to lose half a paw immediately due to cancer. I was terrified I'd lose her quickly, but she's still here as happy as a pig in muck, and hobbles round living life to the full. She's an opportunist little thief, and quickly robbed 9 remote controls. My kids didn't get the hang of putting them out of reach until I left them without sky for a couple of weeks! Que is a little charmer at the vets. They all love her. She's had several small operations to remove lumps and bumps, but they've all been no problem as far as pathology is concerned. I always get them sent off due to her history.
My darling Queen's problems have been more recent. She's had several cancers in the last 12 months, and her current one is inoperable and unresponsive to chemotherapy. It is her second liposarcoma which is very rare once. A second one is appallingly bad luck. She is now back to her usual dopey self, living life to the full and it is easy to forget how ill she is. She will get all the love and care in the world. All the vets, nurses and reception staff in our surgery and the hospitals she been in think she's a star.
My sweet little Snowie is still very vulnerable, but lives a life with little stress, and lots of love. Physically she is very healthy, but she is still anxious at times. She is happy in her own environment with the others. She is a pleasure to be around. I didn't go to collect Snowie from Rosemary, but she went mad over Feather when we got them all to meet in a field. It was amazing to see her. Also Snowie was going to be left on her own at Rosemary's stables, when Que and Queen came home with me, and I COULDN'T leave her. Later that week Rosemary discovered that Snowie is Feather's daughter, so she has always belonged here with us.
These girls have come on slowly but surely. They had been here over a year before they learnt to pinch teddies off each other. Now they always steal teddies or balls off each other. I can see them eyeing up someone else's teddy, then slowly slink up and grab it, and tug as hard as they can. Sometimes now though, the jaws won't release it and the potential thief doesn't get what they want! Expressions say it all. I have such an entertainment watching them.
I have never regretted having these special girls in my life. They are a joy to be around. Jazz has been a little star and is as loyal as ever, despite the diffirence it must have made to her position in the family.
HAPPY 2ND GOTCHA DAY QUE, QUEEN AND SNOWIE
