After receiving my renewal with Petplan at over £30, I decided to shop around

I've been so so busy that my new policy has actually started, and I've paid the first expensive payment with petplan

But....I have just applied for my new policy, to start from tomorrow, with Axa Very Happy

The monthly premium is £12.60, less than half of what I am paying now Shocked

So......just need to remember to ring up and cancel my petplan asap.....or I will be paying for 2 policies Shocked

It is on tomorrows 'To do' list Wink

Yes, Petplan are very expensive, its definitely worth shopping around.

The premium for Axa sounds very good, what cover do you have for vets fees?

i moved my 9yo from M & S to Axa (fortunately he hasn't got any pre-existing conditions)

axa did a good job when they used to underwrite M & S ........ the premium was lower than M & S at the renewal but more importantly the excess was only £70 with Axa, now he's 9, whereas it was £70 + 20% with M & S..........

Sarah, was that for Basil or for Betty?
AXA offerred me a great price on Ozzie, but charged a fortune for Vegas! So Gus is on M&S as it's £10/month cheaper than AXA.
Crazy how they work it out??!!??

oh it's for Betty, will try M&S. I don't need a lowe excess as it's hopefully for a worst case scenario and not minor ails.

I am with Tesco and pay £28.00 for all four of mine.

I am only interested in the vet fee part. All mine are insured for £4.500 each. Petplan quoted me an unbelievably high amount.

I am not insured for death but am insured for third party and vet fees, as above.

Quite pleased.

I have one policy with M&S now and would have moved it to AXA if that dog hadn't had vet treatment (not claimed for but I'd not be confident they'd not exclude things on a new policy).

Frilly, apologies if I'm wrong, but haven't you bred from one of yours? I only ask, because while reassessing my insurance options, I looked at Tesco amongst others (wanted something cheap to cover TP as most won't cover dogs used as gundogs), and Tesco's won't cover dogs that are used for breeding, which would mean that they could potentially refuse to cover for that particular dog.
