Today, my beautiful black cat went to the bridge.

A week or two ago, i had him to the vets as he was having violent fits...They diagnosed him with a heart murmur.
The fits were so bad that he had actually lost 4 or 5 claws. Ripping them out during the fits. He was put on strong medication and i brought him home.
He only got worse, even with the medication. After a few days he was incontinent, and then it progressed to unable to walk. He couldn't eat or drink.

The emergany vet was called out over the weekend, they administered some strong anestetic to keep him peaceful and they said to hold on until Monday as he was still fighting.

Today i took him to the vets. They ran tests on him and found that the fits had brain damaged him, very severely. He couldn't move or walk.
He was close to being brain dead.

This cat has fought through so much over the years. As a kitten he was born with asthma and epilepcy. At the age of 8 months he had an operation to remove a hernia which had twisted round his stomach and it was the emergancy operation which saved his life at 8 months.

Then most recently they found he had a heart murmur, which caused very voilet fits and spazims.

But still he fought every step of the way. He had been so strong over these 9 years and he proved all the vets wrong. When I first got him, due to his conditions, the vets predicted he would only live until the age of 3, possibly 4.

He went to sleep today at 10am at the age of 9. He was such a strong fighter and i'm so glad he proved those vets wrong and put up such a strong fight.

He was such a happy cat, and his favourite thing was lying out on the patio in the sun.

He fell peacefully asleep in my arms at 10am today. I couldn't have it any other way than to be holding him tightly while he fell asleep, never to wake up.

I wrote this poem for him.

You came to me so tiny
I held you in my arms
Your face so black and fur so soft, your love was unconditional.
You fought so strong and proved them wrong, a brave boy all the way.
You fell asleep, in my arms, i watched you slip away.
My special boy is now resting, in the clouds far away.
I know now he is safe, and pain-free everyday.

Run free Bizkit. From mummy
