  |
|
I'm switching Cadbury to BARF and I want to give him his mashed up vegetables in his kong so that he won't eat them too fast and he'll get a bit of mental stimulation while eating - excellent for when the weather's bad.
Thing is Cadbury regularly takes his kongs and deposits them outside often in dirt, so they start to look a bit yuck, and I thought it would be best to give them a good clean before I refilled them to avoid giving him a bad tummy.
So what should I use? They aren't the easiest of things to clean. What if I give them a wash in fairy liquid to get the worst off then soak them in one of the baby bottle sterilising solutions such as Milton?

Don't worry Cadbury's tum will be able to cope with more than a bit of dirt and germs from the garden .
I just give my kongs a good scrub in hot washing up water and remove any remaining bits of food from the insides with a bottle brush. There really is no need to sterilize them.

Maybe its more for me than him They just look so filthy, admittedly they didn't get much of a clean when I put sardines in them!

The old saying was, "You have to eat a peck of dirt before you die!" Forget sterilising, just rince out with hot water. I honestly believe we were far healthier back in the days of old when the bacon laid on the bacon slicer and the cheese on the cheese board in the shops all day. Biscuits were loose in open tins at floor level and we always took our dog with us when we went shopping. We developed natural immunity, and subdued immune systems were unheard of.
Regards, John
