It is a shame that you feel that way Steph, this site and its members have been very forth coming with sympathy and good advice and it is only fair that High House is given a chance to reply to your claims.

Good luck with Biscuit.

I'm sorry that you feel this way, Stephie,

As I have explained, we cannot contact you until you give us your details again. However, this is no "place" for more detailed discussions about Biscuit or how we can help.

You will find our full contact details on our website. I suggest you don't put yours on this public forum.

I would just remind you, and assure the watching world, that you are mistaken about the lack of communication up to November/December, and I have explained that all of our puppy owner details have been lost at that time (computer backup - a different topic!). The files are being recovered in South Wales at the moment, and we hope to get some of them back.

We would be pleased to hear from you direct and give you any help we can.

Dom and Jan

I've never taken part in a forum before but having seen the comments I have to add my views.
Both a friend and I bought a Lab each from High House in June 2008 and I have had all the help I've asked for - whilst my friend has had a lot of labs and was very impressed with their set up it was my first dog and came with written notes for both myself and for the vet!
They advised getting the pup independently checked and would have it back if my own vet identified anything. I've kept in touch over the last 12 months by e-mail and the breeders have responded.
Both our pups have been absolutely fine so far (I really hope that isnt tempting fate too much) and the breeders went to a lot of trouble to explain about restricting exercise over the first 18 months as the dogs were growing. I just stuck to all thier instructions. Ours are a different cross Vadis/Dreamacres Huntress which I think had slightly worse hip scores than the pairing being referred to earlier but still very good
Tula is a bright little thing, we're taking our Good Citizen Gold Award next week and she's only just 13 months and I hadnt got a clue what I was doing to start with - (still dont a lot of the time but shes very forgiving!)
Whilst I feel very sorry for your experience from my own experience with these people I just dont think that its typical.

I bought our dog from the Atkinsons as a puppy. They breed great dogs and are good people to deal with. Our dog has been wonderful--primarily a family pet, but very much a field dog at heart who loves the woods and water--very healthy, good natured and with loads of character. We live outside the UK and I found Highhouse Labradors and bought our dog over the internet as a replacement for our predecessor Lab who had recently died of cancer. I had never bought a dog without being able to meet the breeders and the dog’s parents beforehand, so this was a huge leap of faith. Given the circumstances, the Atkinsons could have treated us very badly, but Dom and Jan went out of their way to take care of us, doing much more than one might have expected. They were scrupulous about the costs involved, about keeping in touch with us (including sending lots of Jan’s great photos in the run up to his arrival) in making sure he was well taken care of en route and that we were well prepared to take care of him during his puppyhood. The Atkinsons put a lot of thought and effort into their work and this results in Highhouse producing very fit, happy, well socialized dogs. In the time that our dog has been with us, the Atkinsons have been very helpful in answering questions about canine health and training. I would recommend them very highly to anyone looking for a Lab and would be happy to serve as a reference for them.
